Title -- 5338 FIJI: Human Rights media report biased, says Baba Date -- 28 February 2008 Byline -- None Origin -- Pacific Media Watch Source -- Fijivillage.com 28/02/08 Copyright - FV Status -- Unabridged Post a comment on PMW's Right of Reply: PMW feedback pmc@aut.ac.nz FHRC REPORT BIASED-BABA www.fijivillage.com/?mod=story&id=280208c08561bedd77d80d3cf3d3b6 SUVA (Fijivillage.com/Pacific Media Watch): A former senator and former Deputy Prime Minister in the People's Coalition Government, Dr Tupeni Baba, believes Dr James Anthony's report on the Fiji media is totally biased. Dr Baba, who has been a victim of three coups, said Anthony's attack on the local media was uncalled for and his recommendations and findings were baseless. He said it also reflected Dr Anthony's own racist views. According to Dr Baba, while Anthony's appointment itself is questionable, he believes these are the darkest days for the Fiji Human Rights Commission (FHRC), which has side tracked from its roles and responsibilities. * The Anthony media report: www.humanrights.org.fj/pdf/fhrcmediarpt2007.pdf |
